Wordle.net Generative Design Aid

I have recently come to a wonderful visualization web application, which I used earlier to add some graphical representation of the content to my blog entries (as above). You can plug in your own text, or provide your delicious username, and create similar images by using the application which is hosted at wordle.net. As a new developer in the web field, I’m appreciative of a great way to add some style using programmatic, generative art in place of custom pieces in the interest of dedicating more time to learning back-end techniques. This is a fabulous tool, coded by Jonathan Feinberg, which I plan to use frequently. An open API and a Firefox extension would be phenomenal additions, as it was a bit tedious to get from the web app’s “print out” functionality to processed, resized graphics files for use on the web. Good stuff!
